Do you have some “messes” that need fixing?
Does your filing feel more like a puzzle than a “system” at work?
Are magazines piled so high that they serve as mini coffee tables?
Do you have closets, drawers, or whole rooms that you prefer NOT
to open or step inside?
Could you use some help figuring out where all your time goes in a day?
The Affinity Center wants to help.
First things first.
Organizing experts from Julie Morgenstern to Peter Walsh make an important distinction between wanting to organize and needing to purge or shed. And we wholeheartedly agree with them. A person organizes to become more efficient. You shed to get unstuck, to poise yourself to really change your life.
Organizing gives you better, more efficient access to what’s most important to you.
Purging or shedding is a process for discovering what IS most important to you.
It’s possible to get organized without getting rid of anything. It’s impossible to purge or shed without letting things go.
Tackling Organization
Everyone faces particular challenges when they tackle the task of getting organized. (“Tackle” is the operative word, isn’t it?) You want efficient, maintainable change, but don’t see the new set-up or system in your mind. And so you worry that something new won’t “fit” you, won’t work for your office or your household.
Our staff can help you:
☻ Work with what works at work. We’ll incorporate what has worked
on the job for you in the past with new systems – all aimed at making
you more productive and efficient. Together, we can move those
papers and files off your desk – and help you remember where you
filed them!
☻ Make your home a haven. We recognize you want, and need, a
comfortable home that functions well. It should look lived in, with the
flexibility to hold many different interpretations of “neatness.” We’re
here to help you look forward to entertaining, hosting sleepovers, even
living well with your teenager!
Our mission is to change potential combat zones into oases.
Organization does not equal absolute neatness,
for either kids or adults.
☻Make all your spaces – whether for work or play – welcoming.
☻ Discover ways to fix your messes and KEEP them fixed.
REMEMBER: No one should ever have to change to fit a new organizational plan. The plan should SUPPORT, not change you.
Getting Unstuck
Sometimes, we can’t even begin to organize ourselves and our lives because we are horribly stuck, weighed down by the “stuff” that inevitably accumulates from just living in this world. The problem is that we’re letting our “stuff” control us, often even define us. SO, when we talk about shedding, we’re really talking about so much more than just purging or throwing things out. It involves four steps:
■ SEPARATING the treasures – identifying the gems among your stuff that are worth
hanging on to.
■ HEAVING the trash – eliminating what’s weighing you down.
■ EMBRACING your identity – connecting to who you are without all your “stuff.”
■ DRIVING your life again – exploring new avenues or routes you might take.
Isn’t it time you made room for those ideas and interests you’ve wanted to examine? You can start by literally making space for them; then, you can continue because you’ll feel less overwhelmed, lighter, energized.
Let us help you discover what really is important to you.
Free yourself up and move forward again.
